Water Taste Test Competition

(Turners Falls, MA, September 12, 2007) – Southampton Water Department was crowned "Mass Rural Water Taste Test Champion" on September 12th, 2007 during the second test competition held at our annual Trifecta in Turners Falls Massachusetts. Southampton dethroned Three Rivers Water Department who won last year and went on to win the National title. Runner up went to West Boylston Water Department and third place was taken by Lincoln Water Department. Twenty seven water departments entered the contest by bringing their water to be tasted by an independent board of judges. This year the judges were Dianne King (USDA), Marie Tenant DEP Boston, and Deirdre Cabral DEP Western Region. As a result of winning the taste test contest, Southampton Water Department will be eligible to participate in the National Rural Water Taste Test Held in Washington D.C. early in the spring of 2008. We would like to thank the following all the Systems that brought water and competed and wish Southampton good luck this spring in D.C. We look forward to seeing you and many more systems compete next year. |
