Flooding is one of the most challenging hazards to drinking water and wastewater utilities and the communities they serve. Impacts can include loss of power, damage to critical assets, and dangerous life-threatening conditions for utility workers. This course will detail four (4) basic steps involved with increasing your utility's resilience to flooding.
Water and wastewater personnel generally respond to an emergency in the way they have been trained. By using an ongoing process of training, exercising, and evaluation, water & wastewater systems have a greater assurance their staff will know what is expected of them in an emergency situation and act accordingly. Exercising response plans helps form the connections needed to effectively respond to an emergency with external response partners (e.g., local, county, and state emergency management). Join us as we review the elements of planning, designing, conducting, and evaluating emergency exercises. In addidtion, we will detail the prorcess of identifying emergency resonse strengths and weaknesses and the means to create and implement an improvement plan.
Class will be held In Person. Class size varies by location. To allow for adequate training time for each participant, we will be watching registrations closely and begin a Wait List for either location as necessary. Registration is on a first come first served basis.
