Primary Operator Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and operate drinking water treatment equipment and systems.
  • Monitor and adjust chemical dosages to ensure proper treatment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and repairing.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the treatment process to identify any issues or abnormalities.
  • Analyze water samples to determine water quality parameters and adjust treatment processes accordingly.
  • Record and maintain accurate logs of equipment readings, maintenance activities, and test results.

-Be available to respond to drinking water emergencies in a timely fashion.

-Generate monthly compliance reports for submittal to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection

Requirements:

-VSS & 1-T drinking water licenses required. Willingness to acquire these licenses may also be considered if not currently held by the candidate.

  • Previous experience in drinking water operations or a related field is preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks as required
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating chemical dosages
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills for interacting with coworkers and supervisors

This position requires working in an environment that may involve exposure to hazardous materials. Proper safety precautions must be followed at all times.

Job Type: Part-time (approximately 2 hours/day) Salary: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
