Treatment 2 Certification Exam Preparatory Course: A 7-Day Course (#2024-24)


This course is designed to provide the student with the general concepts of drinking water treatment operations. Emphasis will be on proper chemical application, regulations, laboratory analysis, safety, and electrical/mechanical equipment. An introduction of topics covering hydrology, hydrologic cycle, potable water sources and use, treatment technologies, and administration will be provided.

This intermediate level course will also cover common math problems and how to solve them. In addition, the course is designed to prepare students for the State of Massachusetts Class 2 Water Treatment operator certification exams.

In order to be successful, participants will be required to use the appropriate textbooks, on which this course was designed from. This course will utilize the American Water Works Association's (AWWA) Water System Operations (WSO) Water Treatment Series: WSO Water Treatment Books: Grade 1 and Grade 2, which are available for purchase at AWWA Online Bookstore . We strongly recommend you purchase the most recent versions of the books. Participants will receive a booklet containing all the copyrighted presentations and handouts.

It is expected that participants attend all classes and complete all assignments in order to give them the best chance of successfully completing this course and passing the exam.

Attendance Requirements: Participants must attend at least 80 percent of the total hours. Class Attendance will be recorded through the use of sign in sheets, requiring participants to sign in and sign out on each day for the course.

Please Note:
1. We are reserving 5 seats for people of small systems (<10,000 population served) and need a minimum of three small systems to register for class. Any remaining seats, of these 5, that are not filled, will be filled from the Wait List in the order in which they were received. Participants will be made known if they are on the Wait List, and if they are move to the active roster. Please don't hesitate to contact Jason should you have any questions.
2. Textbook will not be supplied for this class, it is the student's responsibility to obtain their own textbooks.
3. We will be holding this class again in the Spring-time in the Eastern portion of the State.

Instructor: Tom Bahun II, - Tom's Water Solutions
Mr. Bahun is the co-founder of Tom's Water Solutions, having spent most of his 30+ year career working with water/wastewater professtional. He has served inmany roles and most of his experiences revolve around workplace safety, emergency preparedness, technical assistance, and training. Tom is a Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), holds a Maine Class IV Water Treatment and Distribution Operators license, and a Grade 5 Wastewater Treatment Operator license. He is best known for his exceptional and straightforward training abilities helping many water and wastewater professionals with their educational needs.

Cancellation Policy:
Individuals registered for one of our training classes, seminars, and/or conferences will be charged the class fee if we have not received notice of canellation at least 48 hours prior to the beginning of class. Anyone contacting MassRWA to cancel enrollment in a training session will receive a cancellation number. In the event of an emergency, which would prevent attendance, please contact MassRWA as soon as possible with the details.
